SULPHURIC ACID (H₂SO₄)

Sulphuric Acid (H₂SO₄)

Sulphuric Acid is a strong dibasic acid, widely recognized for its oxidizing and dehydrating properties. It is one of the most extensively used industrial chemicals, playing a vital role in numerous sectors such as fertilizers, petroleum refining, metal processing, and chemical manufacturing. Due to its widespread application, Justus, Baron von Liebig famously stated:
“The commercial prosperity of a nation can be measured by the amount of sulphuric acid it consumes.”

Packaging

Akbari Agrichem (Pvt.) Ltd. offers Sulphuric Acid in the following packaging options:
⦁ 25 kg or 50 kg plastic jars
⦁ Bulk shipments in 10 metric ton tankers (as per client requirements)

Storage Handling & Safety Measures

Sulphuric acid requires stringent safety protocols due to its highly corrosive nature and exothermic reaction with water. Containers must remain tightly sealed when not in use and stored in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas isolated from incompatible substances (alkalis, combustibles). Critical handling rules include always adding acid to water (never reverse) to control violent heat generation, and using full PPE (chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and protective clothing). Immediate medical attention is required for exposure incidents – flush affected areas with water for 15+ minutes and do not induce vomiting if ingested.

Vision, Mission, Strategy & Principles

To ensure safe storage and handling, follow these guidelines:
Storage Recommendations:
⦁ Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area.
⦁ Keep away from incompatible, combustible, and alkaline substances.
⦁ Ensure containers are tightly sealed when not in use.
Handling Precautions:
⦁ Always add acid to water, never the other way around, to prevent dangerous exothermic reactions.
⦁ Avoid breathing fumes, mist, or spray.
⦁ Wear appropriate safety gear, including:
⦁ Safety glasses
⦁ Neoprene, butyl rubber, polyethylene, or PVC gloves
⦁ Protective clothing
First Aid Measures:
⦁ Skin or Eye Contact:
⦁ Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
⦁ Seek medical attention immediately.
⦁ Ingestion:
⦁ Do not induce vomiting.
⦁ Drink plenty of water and seek immediate medical help.
